a while back i posted my list of current top 10 2-D platformers after i hit a milestone of total number played. i reached 20 gamecube games completed some time ago as well, but i’m only now getting around to posting my current top 10 list for that. the gamecube is what got me back into gaming, and it’s still one of my favorite systems. i haven’t been playing much on it lately, but there are still plenty of top-tier games to look forward to. among the ones that i haven’t played yet are a few that are listed on nintendo power and IGN’s top 10 lists from a few years ago that i’m including here for comparison. here’s the run-down (with links to my corresponding blog entries where available):

fun stuff, innit? in comparison lists like these i always find it geekily interesting to see where there’s complete agreement and where there’s dissent. in my case, i’m definitely in the minority on some of my favorites, although just by looking at these three lists you wouldn’t necessarily be able to tell as each list has several unique titles. i did a survey of several other top 10 gamecube games lists i dug up online and there is a definite consensus overall, although it was interesting to see that pretty much every list had a few random choices thrown in. as with my 2-D platformers list there are several entries at the bottom of my gamecube list that have a good chance of getting bumped off in my next iteration. i really should catch up on all those other great gamecube games …
